Before anyone comes to site
Confirm what you want the end state to be. A plot cleared to ground level, cleared including foundations, or a shell retained for renovation are three different projects.
Decide what you want to keep. Doors, windows, grills, wood, tiles and fittings should be removed before demolition if they matter to you.
Inspection and planning
The inspection establishes structure type, number of floors, condition, access width, overhead lines, adjoining buildings and where debris can be staged.
From that, the method is decided: which machine, in what sequence, with what protection along boundaries.
Preparation
Services must be safely disconnected — electricity, water and drainage — and the site barricaded with controlled access. Neighbours are usually informed at this stage, which prevents most on-site disputes later.
Demolition and clearance
Work generally proceeds top down, with dust suppression during breaking and debris removed in stages. Once the structure is down, rubble is loaded out and the plot is levelled.
Final handover should leave the boundary in the agreed condition and the approach road clean.
Permissions
Demolition is subject to applicable local rules and site conditions, and approvals may be required depending on the property and locality. Confirm requirements for your property with the concerned local authority or association before work begins.
